About the Position:
Environmental Science Associates (ESA) is currently seeking a Senior Botanist/Permitting Specialist to work in our one of our Bay Area offices (San Jose, Oakland, San Francisco, Petaluma). Job duties may include: leading botanical surveys and wetland delineations, leading California Environmental Quality Act/National Environmental Policy Act (CEQA/NEPA) analysis for biological resource impacts, contributing to wetland restoration plans, preparing wetland mitigation and monitoring plans, leading the preparation of permit applications under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act, California Fish and Game Code, Bay Conservation and Development Commission Regulations, Coastal Act, and other relevant laws and regulations. Responsibilities also include developing new biological resources business, leading multi-disciplinary teams, and working with local, State and federal regulators to secure permits for a wide variety of projects. You will work on exciting and challenging projects that may include environmental permitting services for water/wastewater, commercial and residential development, energy, transportation, land management planning, monitoring, and habitat restoration clients.

Requirements:
10-15 years related work experience; bachelorís degree in biology, ecology, wildlife conservation, or related discipline (masterís degree preferred). Restoration ecology experience, education, and interest (native plant revegetation, wetlands, riparian, soils, etc.) are strongly preferred. Required are also a working knowledge of Northern California flora and natural communities, quantitative analysis skills, strong communication skills, excellent writing skills, and knowledge of regulations under the Clean Water Act, Rivers and Harbors Act, Porter-Cologne Water Quality Control Act, CEQA and NEPA, Endangered Species Act, California Fish and Game Code, Coastal Act, and BCDC. Ability to lead resource specialist teams and to lead field survey teams throughout Northern California.
