Default Land Steward - Center for Natural Lands Management

Land Steward – Greater Davis/Sacramento Area. Center for Natural Lands Management ( Application Filing Deadline: Open until filled, but for fullest consideration please apply no later than October 8, 2018. The Center for Natural Lands Management (CNLM) is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3), organization, created in 1990, whose mission is the perpetual stewardship of lands that are natural open areas, sensitive species, and their resident ecosystems. Currently in California, over eighty preserves, encompassing over 60,000 acres throughout the state, are within CNLM’s portfolio, with new preserves added regularly. The preserves vary in size from three to thousands of acres and are managed under direct ownership, conservation easements, or management contracts. All preserves are habitat for sensitive and listed species and/or protected habitats including waters of the US. CNLM seeks an individual to serve as the Land Steward to provide support for various field and office tasks on Preserves within the Regional Preserve Manager’s portfolio. The successful candidate will work directly with the Regional Preserve Manager, thereby not only providing service to the organization but also gaining skills and insight into the field practices for on-the-ground stewardship for conservation lands. CNLM seeks a part-time Land Steward in northern California, located within the greater Davis/Sacramento area. The Land Steward should have the ability to travel to the work sites independently and work in an outdoor environment with a variety of habitat types and terrain in various weather conditions. The level of effort for the position averages to approximately 24 hours a week (8-32 hours/week depending on season) over an 11 month period.
